Recording a Kout session is not a production job. One phone on a stand, one fixed angle, and ten minutes of review afterwards will tell you more about your play than a month of guessing. The part that decides whether it works is not the camera; it is how you handle the table.
Kout moves fast, and by the time a round ends you have already forgotten why you dumped that card. A recording lets you watch the round again with a clear head: where you waited too long to call, where you played safe for no reason, where a better option was sitting in your hand.
Nothing analyses it for you. You watch, you notice, you write one line. That is the whole method.
This is the step people skip, and it is the one that causes problems. Ask before the first deal, not mid-session, and ask each person at the table rather than assuming the group speaks for everyone.
The angle is what separates a useful recording from an intrusive one. Put the phone so it covers the table and the flow of play, well away from anyone's cards.
Do not film a player's hand, and do not walk between chairs with the camera on. Even with consent, a close shot of someone rearranging their cards is not something that needs to stay on your phone. If you want to add a note out loud, keep it to one line between rounds.
A phone on a stand in a fixed spot disappears from the table's attention. What does not disappear is you reaching for it every round or stopping play to adjust the angle.
Set everything before the deal: battery, storage, silent mode. Then leave it alone and play normally. If the recording starts to feel like a chore for the table, switch it off; the session matters more than the footage.
You do not need to watch everything. Pick two or three rounds where a decision felt difficult, watch them once without pausing on every card, and write one sentence per round.
Then delete the file once it has served its purpose. Keeping clips of other people's sessions is not an obligation, and privacy beats an archive you will never open again.
Keep the score record separate and simple. Kout Score helps you calculate and track points across your Kout sessions, free on Google Play, while the video stays on your own phone, on your own terms.
