Most kout sessions run late, and when you play online the router works as hard as the cards. A power cut or a dropped connection mid-round is normal. The problem is what follows: one player forgets the score, another remembers it differently, and someone wants to start the round over, because nobody saved the session before everything went dark.
A backup plan starts before the outage, not after it. Keep these within reach of the table:
First, nobody changes seats or the player order; the order decides whose turn it is. Second, one person writes down the state, on paper or in a phone note: each team's score, who dealt, whose turn, and how many rounds are left. Keep it short enough to read in seconds: "Team A 32 - Team B 28 - A to play - round five." Then agree on one rule: we resume from that exact point, and nothing is recalculated from memory.
If the wait gets long, pause the current round and finish it later in the same order. That is fairer than one player guessing how many cards have been played. If the power looks like it will stay off, move to a nearby place with electricity, but take the sheet and photos with you; they hold the score, not the phone.
This is harder: the players are not in the same room. Agree up front: if one player's connection drops, the round stops, is saved, and you finish it when they are back. Nobody plays their hand for them, and nobody continues alone. Post the score in the group chat after each round, so a player who returns with an old screenshot has nothing to argue about.
Kout Score app helps you calculate and track kout session scores, and it is free on Google Play. If the connection dies, you can enter the points you wrote on paper once you are back online and review the session instead of trusting memory. Check who has the latest version before you resume, and restart from the round you actually stopped at.
Do not just carry on. Take two minutes and work through this in order:
Outages happen, but they do not have to ruin a session if the score is written down and the rule is agreed before the first deal. The same steps work for a home game, a diwaniya, or an online table.
