A good Kout session runs long, and by the third or fourth round your back has already filed a complaint. Short stretch breaks between rounds keep you loose and sharp without killing the mood at the table. They take almost nothing: stand up, move a little, drink some water, sit back down.
Sitting in one position for hours tightens the neck and shoulders and tires your eyes on the cards. A stretch break is not a workout, it is just movement that breaks the stillness and loosens the tension that builds up.
The goal is to come back to the next round comfortable, not to leave the session with a stiff lower back. No gym clothes and no extra space needed, just a chair and a small gap beside the table.
Turn your head slowly to one side and the other, pausing briefly at each side without forcing it. Then roll your shoulders in slow circles backwards a few times, and the same forwards.
If one shoulder feels tight, reach that arm across your chest and take a slow breath. Keep everything at your own range of movement, and if pain stops you from moving, see a doctor.
Your wrist works hard holding and dealing cards, so open the hand, spread the fingers and rotate the wrist gently both ways. Your eyes need a break too: every round or two, look at something far from the table for a few seconds.
Keep a glass of water within reach. Reaching for it and drinking is itself a small break from the same seated position, and sipping regularly beats drinking it all at once.
Standing up, even for a few seconds, makes a real difference because it takes your hips out of the position they have been locked in. Put a hand on your lower back, lean back gently, then lengthen upward.
Check your seat as well. If the chairs are low or the table is high, straighten your back and keep both feet on the floor. That small adjustment takes pressure off the lower back over a long evening.
Agree as a table that when a round ends, everyone does the same short set. Two minutes is enough, and nobody feels the session has been interrupted.
