Every Kout group ends up explaining the same rules again: how many points a round is worth, when a redeal happens, what counts as a mistake. The groups that avoid this argument all do the same thing โ they keep one printed sheet next to the table with everything they agreed on.
Nobody reads a long rulebook twice. A single page takes a minute to scan, sticks in memory, and works as a handout for a guest who has never played. The goal is not to write an encyclopedia; it is to write down exactly what your group plays.
It also settles disputes before they start. When the numbers are printed and visible to everyone, nobody has to win an argument about points in the middle of a hand.
Five sections are enough, each two or three lines:
One important note: write the numbers your group actually plays, not the numbers someone heard are "official". Kout varies from one area to another, and the correct version is the one on your table.
Split the page into two columns: rules on one side, scoring on the other. Use clear headings and large text, because people read this sheet from across the room, not up close. Put numbers in a small table if you can; a table is faster to scan than a paragraph.
If your group is large, print two copies: one for the diwaniya wall and one folded inside the card box for trips and camps.
Hand the sheet over before the first deal and give them two minutes to read. Then play one practice round without scoring. Most newcomers pick up the basics in a round or two, and you save yourself twenty repeated questions.
After the session, if a scoring argument comes up, go back to the written numbers together. That is much easier when every point lives in one place instead of being scattered across paper and eraser marks.

Bottom line: one page, five sections, hung next to the table. It takes half an hour to make and it saves an argument every session.
