A Kout crew usually has one group chat and one recurring problem: the session gets decided somewhere in the middle of two hundred messages, and half the group never sees it. The fix is not a new app. It is deciding how the chat gets used.
At the start of the week, post a WhatsApp poll with three options: Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Do not ask "when are we playing?" — that question produces opinions, not a date. Give the poll a closing time and treat the result as final.
Then run a second, smaller poll for the slot: early evening or after dinner. Two small polls beat one long argument.
Once the date is set, write a single message with everything: day, time, venue, how many players are needed, and how many confirmed. Pin it. When someone asks again, the answer is "check the pin" instead of retyping the plan.
Keep the pin alive. If the venue or the time changes, edit it the same day and post one line: "Pin updated, please re-read." And if the scoring argument is the usual suspect, Kout Score helps you calculate and track points across your Kout sessions — free on Google Play. One final line in the group replaces the replay.
Over-reminding makes people mute the chat, and silence is not confirmation. Three reminders are enough:
Have the same person send all three. One source of information works better than three volunteers.
A session breaks on the surprise no-show, not on the person who cancels a day early. Agree on one rule at the first session: cancelling early costs nothing, and pulling out at the last minute covers your share of any booking or table. Write that rule in the pin so it is never a surprise.
Always keep one standby name. A single substitute solves more than ten apology messages.
Choose the payment model before anyone sits down: split evenly, or everyone pays for what they ordered. Put the choice in the pinned message. One person collects, divides, and posts the total in a single line. Clarity ends the discussion faster than any rule.
Three lines of house rules cover the rest: no long voice notes, no scoring arguments in the chat, and any disagreement about a call gets settled at the table. If you play every week, Kout Score helps you calculate and track points across your Kout sessions — free on Google Play.
Download the app free and use it in your next session, so the score lives in one place instead of inside the message thread: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.q8dm.kout
